House Addition Update!

Chet and the deacon chairman (also chairman of the ad-hoc committee) will be meeting with 3 builders to get estimates for the addition--2 of them tomorrow and another "one day very soon." We have PROGRESS!!!

Doctor's Appointment and Glucose Test Update

I had my routine doctor's appointment this morning, and Dr. P's words were, "That's a happy baby!" Everything is looking great. :-)

A bit of info on the glucose test, too--I had opted to go to the lab for the test because it is about 5 minutes from the house, as opposed to the main doctor's office, which is 40 miles, give-or-take. However, this morning I found out that the nurse I talked to on the phone on Friday left out one major piece of information. If I go to the doctor's office for the test, they will do the testing with 3 finger sticks instead of 3 blood draws. So, since that sounds like a much more comfortable option, I will be driving up to St. Augustine for the test on Monday morning. (Added bonus is that I don't have to be there until 8:30 in the morning, as opposed to 7:00 for the lab. Even with the extra drive, I still don't have to leave as early. Good thing when you aren't a morning person!)

And here we go again...

Just like when I was pregnant with Katherine, I found out this afternoon that I did not pass my one hour glucose test, so I have to do that yucky 3 hour test AGAIN! I'll go to the lab for that on Thursday of next week because that is what works on our calendar. Hopefully, like last time, I will pass the 3 hour, and we can just move on from there.

And hopefully, my next post will be happier. I feel like all I'm doing is complaining in these last couple of posts.

On one happier note, today I am exactly 3 months away from my due date! :-)

Where We Are on the House Situation...

Several people have asked where we are with the house situation, in relation to getting ready for Malcom's arrival. First of all, yes, I am stressed out considering I am a planner, we are about 3 months from this little boy's arrival, and we have no bedroom for him yet. (Our house currently has 2 bedrooms, and one truly usable bathroom--there is a 3/4 bath in the garage, of all places, which isn't really practical for us to use.) We live in a parsonage owned by the church, so there is a process that has to be followed for all of this. So far, there is an ad-hoc committee in place, and they seem to think the best course of action is to add on a master bedroom and bathroom. That sounds great to us. A draftsman has come out, and I believe has started to work on some plans, and a survey crew came out the other day. At business meeting the other night, the committee chair said they should have something to present to the church soon. I hope he means VERY SOON. If all of this pans out as it is supposed to, when the addition is built, Chet and I will move into the new master bedroom, the girls will move into our current bedroom, and their current room will become Malcom's room.

That said, we really haven't even started shopping much for Malcom for lack of storage. We finally have decided that we are going to go on and assemble his dresser and set it up in our bedroom for now, so that I have a place to put clothes and things as we get them. (Poor baby has a few gender-neutral things passed on from his sisters, a onesie that my parents gave us for Christmas, a pair of shoes and a package of bibs. Of course, the big baby equipment is already in storage, but I'm talking about clothes and the little stuff.) He would be sleeping in the pack-n-play bassinet for awhile anyway, so that isn't a huge deal.

Anyway, that's the story. Hopefully we'll see some progress soon. And hopefully his mama won't get too much more stressed out over this whole situation...

Malcom's Crib Bedding

We ordered Malcom's crib bedding back at the end of December, and it came in a couple of weeks ago. I'm just now getting the picture off of the camera, though. The picture is made with everything still in the packaging since we still don't have a bedroom for him yet (although progress is being made on that front, too--we've had visits from a draftsman and a survey crew). Yes, his bedding is camo, and we did order it from Bass Pro Shop. :-)

This is Mary Joyce at the Lake View Hotel in Nanchang, China, in September 2006. She was just 9 months old at the time, and she was having a play date with her friends Alivia and Aidyn. In fact, the surrounding photos in the folder are mostly of Mary Joyce and the other girls. The 4th one just happened to be Mary Joyce by herself. It is hard to believe that our baby girl is now a 3 year old big sister to Katherine with a baby brother on the way! (And Alivia and Aidyn are both big sisters, too!)

Another Update

We arrived back home on Saturday night and all of us seem to be over what Chet's sister refers to as "the plague." I'm still in the process of getting the house back in order--unpacking, taking down Christmas decorations, finding places for new toys and cleaning out old ones. Soon, I'll get Christmas pictures posted here and on Facebook, but for now, I just wanted to let everyone know we are back in the land of the living. :-)
