Trick-or-Treat 2010

We took the kids trick-or-treating tonight since we aren't able to go on Sunday evening. We just went around to the homes of a few people we know well who didn't mind us coming a day early. And here are the traditional, pre-trick-or-treating pictures...

I love Malcom's facial expression in this one, and it is the better of the group photos of Mary Joyce.

This one is better of Katherine and Malcom, though.

Our Travel Group Girls: 2010 Edition

This is the most recent collage of the girls from our China travel group. The girls will all turn 5 between November and January and live all over the U.S. There is one more in our group, but I didn't get a picture from them this time. If they send me one later, I will add it.

Meow!

I found this cute little kitty at the preschool yesterday after their Fall Festival. I thought I would bring her home with me. :-)

Mary Joyce almost always picks out a kitty face when there is face paint, and Katherine never wants to have hers painted. Needless to say, I wasn't surprised when I picked them up on Friday.

Pumpkin Patch 2010

We made our yearly trek to the pumpkin patch this evening. It was a beautiful day for it, too. The kids had a great time looking at all of the pumpkins. Malcom picked up his little one, carried it around for awhile, and then took it back to the pile. He did this at least 3 times. He also tossed it once and said, "Ball!" It was fun, though. Enjoy the pictures!

Making Pizza

Mary Joyce is really interested in learning to cook, so we've been trying to let her help when we can. Tonight, she and her daddy made pizzas for supper.

(And, for the record, she is wearing shorts. That shirt is just huge.)

Church Picnic Day

We had our church picnic yesterday, and it was a beautiful day at the park...

for balancing...

for mugging for the camera at the top of the slide...

for just hanging around...

for playing in the dirt...

for spending time with friends...

for climbing to new heights...

for playing ball...

And when you come home after all that playing, it's time for...

*****

By the way, I have started a second blog where I do more actual writing. This is actually a duplicate of a post I did over there. You can see it at Bayous, Peaches, Chopsticks, & Beaches.

Got Boots?

The girls are going to be cowgirls for Halloween this year, and we got both of them cowboy boots the other day. They adore their boots and want to wear them as often as they possibly can.

Random Cuteness

Fun with stickers...

Mary Joyce made this crown in the art center at preschool. She used a scrap of paper where they had cut out leaves for an art project, and came up with the idea all by herself. She was wearing it when I picked her up from preschool that day.

Nothing like a 3 year old...This is Katherine after bathtime on Saturday, wearing her pajamas and her doctor headband she made at preschool while reading her Dora book. :-)

Little Firefighters

Last Monday, the fire truck came to visit the girls' school. It sounds like they had an excellent presentation, and the kids even got to spray the fire hose. The girls talked and talked about it all the way home.

Here are our little firefighters...

Two Funnies for the Day

Katherine will often walk around singing songs or quoting poems/scripture they have learned at preschool. Today, she said this:
"Dis is da day dat da Lord has made! I will Mary Joyce and be glad in it! Ha-way-yoo-yah!"

When I got to preschool today, Mary Joyce's teacher told me that today Mary Joyce was walking around the room, writing words that she found on a clipboard. She asked her teacher, "Do I have to just write words or can I write shapes?" Her teacher told her she could write whatever she wanted. So far on the paper, she had written her first and last name, and her best buddy Eric's first and last name. Mary Joyce then told her teacher that she was going to make a heart to go with their names because a heart means love, and she loves Eric. Oh, boy... :-)

A Visit with Friends

Jen and Mike were some of our very best friends when we lived in south Georgia, and we have really missed getting to spend time with them. Recently, they vacationed very close to here (they homeschool, so they can take family vacations in October :-) ), and we were able to meet them for play time for the kids and then supper on Monday night. We had a great time!

(And, yes, the play area at our local mall has a playground with equipment made to look like breakfast foods. It is bizarre, but the kids like it...)

Moon Festival

We were recently able to get together with our local China families group for a Moon Festival party at the park. In some ways, it was a comedy of errors. We go there, and the Splash Park fountain was down for maintenance, the tide was up, so the beach was not an option, and it was cloudy, so seeing the moon was almost impossible (didn't really see it until we were all getting ready to leave). All of the errors aside, the kids had a great time on the playground, and the evening was a lot of fun anyway.
